Future Collective

Future Collective is a recently registered incorporated association working at the intersection of community, environment, and social resilience. We represent our local communities in Australia & New Zealand and hold longstanding friendships in India, Indonesia, and Timor Leste, to name a few. We facilitate cross cultural engagements, we initiate and manage projects, and we partner with & consult to organisations with shared values and vision. We’re proud to have built a strong foundation to the organisation and we invite you to share our journey as we grow, connect, share, and build our own Future Collective community.

Pal, India - January 2025

On our first international community building adventure, Future Collective are excited to be travelling to India in January to reconnect with our friends in the remote tribal Maharashtrian village of Pal. Future Collective is picking up on a long-running community friendship initiated by Noel and Jenny Blencowe in the 1970s, and held by CERES Global since the mid 2000s. We’re excited to be heading back after the COVID disruption, and we’d love to have you join us for 10 days in late January.

A framework for weaving healthy communities

Community Weaving is a resource we’ve explored as Future Collective grows from a new-born to a toddler. This framework acts as a lens in understanding the development stage of our international partner communities and how they operate. From the team who created the Community Business Canvas, this model is about the community web, the rhythm, the spirals, the circles and the fire that comes from a strong and healthy community.

Plastics Pirate

Working with Plastics Pirate, Future Collective are diving into the world of plastic pyrolysis and exploring the impact of this exciting technology - creating value from discarded soft plastics converting them into usable Diesel and ULP fuel! We're exploring ways to work with founder and captain Connor Clarke on transporting the Pyrolysis technology on a barge from Australia to Timor to coincide with the 2025 Permayouth conference with Ego Lemos.

China 2025 with Southern Cross University

Future Collective are eagerly anticipating the outcome of the New Colombo Plan announcements in December, particularly the outcome of the 28 day China trip submission co-designed with Southern Cross University. This program will explore the impact of Australian organisations in China, operating in the sustainable agriculture, water management and emerging engineering technologies sectors within a changing climate.

The Big Tree

Future Collective are supporting the establishment of a land-share cooperative community in country Victoria called The Big Tree. The community has been in formation since the pandemic lockdowns and is about to welcome the first round of public members. This opportunity will be available until the end of summer. If you or someone in your network is interested, expressions of interest can be made with The Big Tree via the website here.

India-Australia friendship building

Future Collective have recently submitted a proposal to the Australian Government’s Centre for Australia-India relations, the Maitri program, to run a community development program to Pal in Maharashtra over 3 years commencing in January 2026. Results are announced in December this year.
